I would like to bring you up-to-date on some important developments happening here in our parish.

For the past several months I have met with our Parish Finance Committee in regards to the air-conditioning system and sacristy roof in the church. I have noticed that after heavy rains, the sacristy roof would have minor leakage. After having the air-conditioning units and the sacristy roof itself physically inspected, it has become apparent that both items need to be replaced. Both cooling units are over 40 years old and the same can be said for the roof. Since we want to avoid any further interior damage that might occur with the sacristy roof needing replacement, I, with the co-operation of the finance committee, have been gathering quotes from various contractors for replacement units and to have the sacristy roof completely replaced. When a contractor has been decided upon and with the co-operation of good weather, we can schedule the work to be started.

The project will include air-conditioning units that are high efficiency in nature that, in the long run, will be beneficial to the parish in lowering the electrical power needed to cool the church.

Circulation will also be improved due to new venting projecting the cool air in a more upward movement. The new units also have the ability to re-circulate the cool air from the outside on cooler days. All of this will provide us with comfortable surroundings for our Sunday Masses and special sacramental services.

We are now in the process of reviewing the various quotes with the finance committee. The over-all cost of this project is estimated to be between $60,000. and $70,000. I realize that this is a major undertaking for the parish. However, time and time again, you have shown your support of St. Bruno thru your donations to the Capital Improvement Fund, even during these hard economic times. This project is just one of the reasons why the Capital Improvement Fund was established.

As many of you already know, major improvements to the school, rectory and church were able to be completed in the summer of 2009 due to your generous donations.

At this time, I would like to acknowledge the Polish Group who tirelessly gives of their time and talent to sponsor the Polish Fall Dance.

Due to their tremendous efforts, they have donated $45,000. for the start of this project. But as you can see, we unfortunately still fall short of completing our goal.

In keeping with the theme of this message, that being communication, I would also like to let you know that the sound system in our church is being checked due to parishioners not being able to hear the presider at Mass. As I receive more information, I will pass it on. Also, the security system in our church has not been working properly. We are in the process of making sure that the system is in excellent working order to protect our church and all of God’s treasures.

As you can see, the finance committee and I have been working in partnership and respect for the benefit of the parish. I now turn to you, our parishioners, to continue your great work for your parish. Please be as generous as you possibly can to the Capital Improvement Fund. Without your prayers, none of this would be possible. Without your monetary support, none of this would be possible. I know that with God’s blessings, we will succeed.

Please remember that this year St. Bruno will be celebrating its 85th anniversary of serving the people of this community. Your gift to this project will be a wonderful way to commemorate this great event!

As I stated during my installation Mass in October of 2009, I plan to continue to improve the physical aspects of St. Bruno; thereby adding to the previous pastors’ goals and dreams for this parish. Please know how grateful I am for your generosity of spirit and co-operation in support of our parish. With this in mind, please keep St. Bruno and this major project in your prayers as I keep you in mine.

At this time, I am reminded of a passage from Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
