Teens for Unity

Parish Bingo
The Parish Bingo was started in September, 1972. There’s no coincidence that it began in September, since the proceeds were earmarked for the school.
We have been blessed with many generous workers during this time. We still have one of the original workers still volunteering every week. No special skills are necessary to be a volunteer, just the enjoyment of interacting with others and a desire to assist our school. If anyone’s interested in volunteering, please give your name and phone number to the parish secretary for the bingo coordinator.
Parishioners and school families are always welcome to participate and volunteer every Friday and join in the fun.
Just a few years after the founding of St. Bruno parish, the St. Bruno Holy Name Society (HNS) was established under the founding pastor, Fr. Alexis Gorski. In 1997 our HNS affiliated with the then-young Chicago Association of Holy Name Societies (CAHNS) working together with brother societies in parishes throughout the archdiocese and beyond.
A basic goal of our, and all Holy Name Societies worldwide is respect and veneration of the name, Jesus. The next general goal is the fostering of frequent reception of the sacraments. The society strives to support the pastor and the parish, and to offer the men of the parish the opportunity to gather in planning and participating in religious and social and recreational activities. Members can receive spiritual guidance at retreats and recollections held at various locations in and around the city. They are encouraged to take part in a Spiritual Assembly and Parade of Banners held at a different CAHNS host parish every year. Speakers and programs, sports and social functions inform and entertain the members as well as their wives, children, and neighbors. For the benefit of our members and our Church all men of the parish are welcomed to become active members of the Saint Bruno Holy Name Society.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is a worldwide organization of men and women
known as Vincentians, who are dedicated to assisting the poor and homeless. Fr.
Gorski, then pastor, started the St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Bruno Parish
in 1932 during the Great Depression.
The primary purpose of the Society at its
inception was to assist parishioners whose lives were affected by the
repercussions of the Depression.
St. Bruno's Senior Club is an organization formed as an educational and social group
for senior citizens. Its primary activity is promoting and carrying out programs for its
members, all with the intention of improving the social and general welfare of our
parish's seniors.
No special skills are required to be a member of the Senior Club. Participants should
have an interest in and commitment to meeting new people and helping the club to
develop and grow.
The Senior Club benefits St. Bruno's by promoting community, faith, and strong parish
ties. Individual participants benefit by making new friends, renewing old ones, and
keeping active and involved in the life of the parish.
Membership is open to persons fifty-five (55) years or older. Meetings take place at
3:00 P.M. on the 1sl and 3rd Thursdays of each month.
The President and contact person is La Verne Rinella, 773-254-6475.
The primary purpose of the parish Finance Committee is to assist the pastor in directing
the financial life of the parish. This includes areas such as preparing and implementing
an annual budget, the review of income and expenditures, and the education of
parishioners on the financial needs of the parish.
Committee members have a variety of skills needed to have a firm grasp of parish
objectives and priorities, and the financial means necessary to support them. Good
financial sense and a dedication to the parish and its activities are also key attributes of
committee members. Committee members contribute their knowledge in various
management fields and thus keep the parish solvent and moving forward.
The Parish Finance Committee is not a volunteer organization. Members are chosen
and appointed by the pastor himself.
Chords For The Lord is Saint Bruno's adult folk acoustic choir, formed in April of 2003.
They lead the congregation in music and song at the 12:15 P.M. Mass (on the second Sunday of the month)
and at the 9:00 A.M. Mass (on the fourth Sunday of the month).
Rehearsals take place at Saint Bruno Church at 8:00 P.M. on the Wednesdays that immediately preceed the CFTL Sundays.
Those interested in joining our folk choir can contact its director, Bud Podrazik, through the Saint Bruno Rectory.
